Fine print

RecentCasinos follows what changes at online casinos that accept Canadian players: new licences, payout speed, Interac and iDebit limits, wagering terms. This page is the small print behind all of it. It applies to every review, list, bonus table and news item on the site.

The short version

  • We are a publication. We do not run a casino, take deposits or settle disputes.
  • Most casinos on our pages are offshore sites without a Canadian licence.
  • Bonus figures and payout times change; the casino’s own terms always win.
  • Nothing here is legal, financial or tax advice.
  • You must be 19 or older (18 in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec).

A publication, not a casino

RecentCasinos is published by Brightstrait Digital Media Limited. Casinos that appear on our pages are separate businesses with their own owners, licences and rules. If you sign up with one, your contract is with that business alone. Your account there is invisible to us; we cannot reverse a transaction and cannot speak for the casino in a complaint.

Gambling law in Canada

The Criminal Code leaves gambling to the provinces, and each has made its own choice:

  • Ontario runs an open market. Private operators are registered by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) and contracted through iGaming Ontario.
  • Alberta opened its own regulated market under the AGLC in July 2026.
  • Other provinces and territories offer online casino games through a provincial operator such as PlayNow, Loto-Québec or Atlantic Lottery.

Many of the casinos we review hold licences from Curaçao, Malta, Kahnawake or elsewhere, not from a Canadian province. Canadian law does not make it an offence for an individual to play at such a site, but those operators are not supervised by any Canadian regulator, and a Canadian complaint body will not step in if something goes wrong. Our reviews state the licence each casino shows on its own site; we do not verify licences on the regulator’s behalf.

Players in Ontario should note that the AGCO restricts how gambling bonuses may be promoted to Ontarians. Bonus amounts on our pages are aimed at the rest of Canada. Residents of Ontario are best served by the operators listed on the iGaming Ontario website.

Minimum age

The legal age to gamble is 19 in most of Canada and 18 in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec. Anyone younger than the local minimum should close this page now. Casinos check age and identity when you register or withdraw; we do not, because we hold no player accounts.

Bonuses and promotions

A welcome package shown here as “100% up to CA$1,000 + 200 free spins” is a snapshot taken on the date printed on the page. Casinos rewrite their offers often and seldom tell anyone. Wagering requirements, game weighting, the largest stake allowed while a bonus runs, withdrawal caps and expiry dates can all change overnight. Before you accept any offer, read the bonus terms on the casino’s site. If those terms differ from ours, theirs apply.

Payout times and banking

When we write that a casino pays out “within 24 hours” by Interac, iDebit, MuchBetter or crypto, we report what the casino advertises and, where we tested it, what we observed on that occasion. Your experience will depend on identity checks, the amount, the method and the day of the week. Your bank may also decline or delay a gambling transaction. We cannot promise any timeframe.

Games, RTP and volatility

Return-to-player figures for slots, live dealer tables and crash games come from the game studios. They describe the long run over a huge sample, not your next session, and some games exist in several RTP versions that casinos may choose between. The house keeps an edge on every game.

How to read our ratings

Scores out of five or ten are the opinion of our editors after looking at licensing, banking, bonus terms, support and the mobile experience; the method is on our how we rate page. A high score is not a guarantee that a casino will treat you fairly. Commercial agreements can affect which casinos we list and in what order, as explained on our who pays us page; they do not buy a score.

News items

News about licences, regulators and new launches is written from public announcements and press releases. We link to the source wherever we can. Regulators and operators sometimes revise their announcements after publication, so check the original before acting on a news story.

Pages here link to casinos, payment services, game studios, regulators and support organisations. Those websites follow their own policies, and RecentCasinos answers for none of them: their availability, their security or what they publish.

No professional advice

Nothing on RecentCasinos is legal, tax or financial advice. If you have a question about tax on winnings or about your rights against a casino, ask a qualified professional.

Our liability

Where the law permits, Brightstrait Digital Media Limited is not responsible for money lost while gambling, for decisions you take on the strength of our pages or for any period in which the site is offline. Rights you hold as a consumer that cannot be waived remain unaffected.

If gambling stops being fun

Decide what an evening of play is worth to you, and log out once that sum is spent. Use the deposit limits, cool-off periods and self-exclusion tools that casinos provide. Free, confidential help is available: in Ontario, ConnexOntario takes calls on 1-866-531-2600, and other provinces have their own help lines. More options are on our responsible gambling page.
